Asylum:

Are you afraid to go back
to your country?

PAIR’s Pro Bono Asylum Program is a leading volunteer program in Massachusetts to recruit, mentor and train attorneys from private law firms to represent, without charge, indigent asylum-seekers who have fled their countries after suffering from unimaginable harm. The goal of the program is to secure safety for every client who has tried to exercise freedoms that we may take for granted: the right to express opinions, freedom of speech and assembly, or the right to practice a religion. PAIR has recruited, trained and mentored over 2,000 volunteer attorneys to represent asylum-seekers and immigration detainees. PAIR has a 95% success rate with its asylum cases. To learn more, read our Pro Se Asylum Manual.

Detention:

Are you or a loved one
being detained?

PAIR’s Detention Program is the only immigration legal services program with negotiated access to all three major ICE detention centers in Massachusetts (Bristol County, Plymouth County, and Suffolk County HOCs) to conduct legal orientation. Last year, PAIR advised and represented over 700 immigration detainees who came from throughout the world. PAIR also provides free legal services for detainees with bond and removal defense. This is crucial because there are no free lawyers for immigration cases. Without legal advice, immigration detainees do not understand their basic rights, may remain unjustly detained, and face deportation. To learn more, read our Self Help Manual for Detainees.
